Neighbor Connector
Help us better serve you.
At Hawai‘i Foodbank, we are always looking for ways to better serve our families and neighbors facing food insecurity. One way we are doing this is by offering a free, paperless check-in system called Neighbor Connector at select food distribution opportunities. This tool will allow us to better understand the needs of our community, enhance our services, and advocate for more support and funding — ultimately helping us provide the families and neighbors we serve with improved resources.

What is Neighbor Connector
Neighbor Connect is a part of Feeding America’s Service Insights project, an electronic intake platform that collects basic administrative and demographic data from the neighbors we serve at our food distributions. Using this system to check in neighbors, record neighbor’s needs and capture demographic information will provide our whole hunger-relief network with complete and reliable information. This information enables us to have a more connected, accurate and up-to-date understanding of who we are serving. All information collected is kept private and secure

Frequently Asked Questions About Neighbor Connector:
Your first registration may take a little longer, but please be patient as it will ultimately help us provide a better experience. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you will see:
Step 1: Come to one of our food distributions.
Step 2: Answer the usual intake questions. We will log your responses in our new system.
Step 3: Access our food assistance services as you usually would.
On your next visit, we’ll look up your profile to check you in. No additional information is needed unless something has changed.
Our agency partners will ask for basic administrative and demographic information. This includes items like your name, address, email and/or phone number, age, ethnicity, and the number of other members in the household.
Some agency partners may also ask additional questions related to services they provide, such as dietary restrictions and preferences — all with the intent of providing you and your household with better service.
By providing this information, you’ll help us tailor our services to better support your needs. This information will also help us get more funding and support to better serve you. Ultimately, the reports and insights that we learn from Neighbor Connector can fundamentally change the way we make decisions and fight hunger across the communities we serve.
Our system has security similar to your bank, keeping your information confidential and private. Reporting is anonymous, so your specific information and details are kept private.
We will always treat you and your information with dignity and respect. We will not share your personal information, and your choice to provide your information will NOT affect your access to our services. You will never be refused service or discriminated against based on your answers.
Neighbor Connector allows us to safely and privately collect information to better understand your needs. It provides a simplified and higher quality experience for our neighbors and agency partners. By taking part in this new process and answering a few questions, you will help us reduce wait times for future visits and tailor our services to provide a better experience for you.
If you’ve lost your card, we can still pull up your neighbor profile using your name, date of birth, address or phone number. If you’ve signed up for email or text notifications, you can also request a digital copy of your QR code to be sent to you for your next visit to a food distribution.
