Meals and Snacks in Care Settings

If your child attends a participating child care center, family child care home, afterschool program, or if you or a family member receives services at a homeless shelter or senior day care center, you may have access to free nutritious meals and snacks through CACFP. This federal program ensures that eligible children and adults in care settings across O’ahu and Kaua’i receive proper nourishment that meets federal nutrition standards. Through our partnership with the State Department of Education’s Hawaiian Child Nutrition Programs, we work to make sure nutritious food is available where you and your ‘ohana spend time during the day. Contact your care provider to learn if they participate in CACFP and how you can access these important nutrition services for yourself or your keiki.

Kaukau 4 Keiki

Summer Meals for Your Keiki
If your keiki relies on school meals during the year, Kaukau 4 Keiki can help ensure they continue receiving nutritious food throughout the summer break. This summer meal box program provides groceries to prepare seven days of breakfast and lunch for one child, including shelf-stable fruits and vegetables, proteins, starches, milk, fresh produce, bread and more. Developed in partnership with the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education’s Child Nutrition Programs, Kaukau 4 Keiki especially serves rural communities where families may not be able to reach traditional summer meal sites daily. The program operates from six food distribution sites across Oʻahu and Kauaʻi throughout the summer months. If you’re concerned about feeding your keiki during summer break, contact us to learn about eligibility and distribution locations near you.

Kūpuna Fresh

Monthly Fresh Produce for Seniors
If you’re a senior participating in the Senior Food Box Program, Kūpuna Fresh provides additional fresh fruits and vegetables to support your nutrition needs. Each month, you’ll receive an 8–9 pound bag of produce featuring items like eggplant, sweet potatoes, squash, tomatoes, lettuce, bananas and more. We carefully select produce that is culturally meaningful to our community, easy to prepare, and packaged in manageable portions that aren’t too heavy to carry. Kūpuna Fresh works alongside the Senior Food Box Program to ensure you have access to the fresh, healthy foods that support your well-being. Contact us to learn more about eligibility and how to access this additional produce support.

Neighbor Connector

Easy Check-In at Food Sites

When you visit select food distribution sites, you may check in using Neighbor Connector, our new paperless system that makes accessing food assistance easier and more efficient. This electronic platform allows you to register once and then check in quickly at participating locations without needing to fill out paperwork each time you visit. Neighbor Connector is part of Feeding America’s Service Insights project and helps us better understand our community’s needs so we can improve our services and advocate for more resources. All information you provide is kept private and secure. As more of our agency partners begin using this system, you’ll experience faster, more streamlined access to food assistance across multiple locations. This simple check-in process helps us serve you better while respecting your time and dignity.

School Pantry Program

Snacks and Take-Home Food
If your keiki attends a participating school, the Food 4 Keiki School Pantry program can provide important nutrition support for your family. Well-nourished, food-secure students show higher rates of cognitive activity, school attendance, and academic achievement, which is why these school-based pantries serve as critical food resources for students, their siblings, and their families. Your keiki can receive after-school snacks at participating schools, plus take home food bags filled with canned proteins, canned meals, dry goods, snacks and more. This program helps ensure growing minds and bodies have the well-balanced nutrition foundation they need for learning and development. Contact your child’s school to learn if they participate in the School Pantry program and how your family can access these resources.

Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program

Farmers’ Market Coupons for Kūpuna
If you’re a low-income senior, the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (SFMNP) can provide you with access to fresh, locally-grown fruits, vegetables, honey and herbs. Through our partnership with the State of Hawaiʻi Office of Community Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, eligible kūpuna receive $50 worth of coupons (10 coupons valued at $5 each) to obtain nutritious foods at no cost from participating farmers, farmers’ markets and roadside stands across Oʻahu and Kauaʻi. These coupons connect you directly with local growers while providing access to fresh, healthy foods that support your well-being. The program also includes nutrition education to help you understand the relationship between proper nutrition and good health. Contact us to learn about eligibility requirements and participating locations near you.

Senior Food Box Program

Monthly Nutrition Support for Kūpuna
If you’re a senior facing food insecurity, the Senior Food Box Program through the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) can help you maintain your health and independence. This monthly program delivers nutritious foods that provide important nutrients that may be missing from your diet, helping prevent health risks linked to senior hunger and reducing difficult choices between meals and other essentials. Each thoughtfully packed box includes items like cereal, juice, protein, milk, peanut butter, dry beans, potatoes, grains, rice, cheese, fruit, vegetables, and more. By supporting your nutrition needs, the Senior Food Box Program helps you stay healthy and independent while avoiding expensive hospital visits and long-term care. Contact us to learn about eligibility requirements and how to access this vital monthly nutrition support.

SNAP Assistance

Maximizing Food Benefits for Families
If you’re struggling to afford groceries, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) can help stretch your food budget by providing benefits to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, meats, and other unprepared foods. While SNAP benefits cannot be used for prepared meals, vitamins, or non-food items, they provide crucial monthly support for families facing food insecurity. Hawaiʻi Foodbank offers free SNAP prescreening, application, and recertification assistance to help you navigate the process and access these vital benefits. Our trained staff can help determine your eligibility, complete your application, and assist with renewals to ensure you continue receiving support. Contact us to learn how SNAP benefits can help your family access nutritious food while creating long-term pathways to food security.

SUN Meals

If you have children or teens aged 18 and under, they can receive free nutritious meals and snacks throughout the summer at schools, parks, and other neighborhood locations through SUN Meals. This federal Summer Food Service Program ensures your keiki continue eating well when school is out, merging summer activity programs with meal service to provide consistent nutrition during break periods. Every child aged 18 and under can enjoy SUN Meals at no cost, and eligible school-aged children may also receive SUN Bucks for additional food support.
